Iranian scientists are being killed. These scientists are nuclear engineering scientists. The Iranian government blame the U.S., Israel, and the U.K. for these murders. The U.S. and U.K. say that they have no hand in the matter at all. Israel on the other hand has not denied it. Hilary Clinton states "in the strongest possible terms. ... The scourge of terrorism is an affront to the entire international community."

Terrorism is a huge important issue. It starts war and conflict for anybody and everybody. The murdering of scientists is a problem because now Iran may feel the need to avenged their fallen and attack Israel for what has been done.
This article explains why this is an issue and a scary one at that. If this gets out of hand it may be Israel's war. And knowing our U.S. government, America will get involved.
War is a huge issue and nobody wants it. But Iran may start a war if Israel keeps up this up. Iran could use this as a scapegoat to start a war.

This article was about your privacy all over the Internet. Your information is being shared by your Internet provider, your cellphone carrier, and lawmakers so don’t think that by making anything private, it’ll actually be private because it won’t. This article also mentioned the act that the U.S. House of Representatives brought up which was Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) but it wouldn’t work because like they said “if you were caught unwittingly posting a video of your niece singing along with the latest Taylor Swift tune, you could be blocked from Facebook and your Internet provider…” This article also mentioned how other states like Hawaii are trying to pass acts/bills like SOPA that have to do with your internet providers and privacy. Overall the message of the article was that your not always safe online because your privacy is never going to be private.

This is important to know because it’ll help people know not to put some much information online and really be careful what you post online. Its an issue because there are people who can get your information even though your privacy settings are set to private and do whatever they want with that. This article was interesting because millions of people use social sites like facebook, tumblr, myspace, etc. putting all their information and posting pictures and thinking that they are safe just because their settings are set to private so its really scary to think about it when people find out that strangers have information that you don’t want them to have.

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/lin-s-last-second-3-gives-knicks-6-in-a-row-1.3530679

The Cinderella story of Jeremy Lin continues after last night’s 90-87 defeat of the Toronto Raptors in Toronto. Lin, committing 8 TO’s also had 27 points and a career high 11 assists but the highlight of the night had to be his GW 3 pointer with less than a second left in regulation. "I'm thankful that my coach and teammates trust me with the ball at the end of the game," Lin said. This was the Knicks 6th win in a row and look to get their record to .500 at home tonight against Sacramento.

After a huge disappointing start to the season at 8-15 it looks like the Knicks are finally living up to expectations with there 6th win in a row. With star player Carmelo Anthony sidelined with an injured groin, it’s a wonder how far this team can go in the postseason when all are healthy. Before the rise of Lin, a true Point Guard, there was much speculation of the team and especially Head Coach Mike D’Antoni. D’Antoni’s contract is expired at the end of the season but for now it seems he has cooled from the Hot Seat(being fired).

  4. Paul Armstrong, Lin Inspires New York Knicks To Last-Gasp Win, CNN On The Web, Wed, Feb 15th, Wed, Feb 15th http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/15/sport/basketball-nba-lin/index.html?hpt=hp_bn1

This article summarized Jeremy Lin, a story of “ benchwarmer” who was given an opportunity to get some playing time after a few injuries to Knick players. This Tuesday the Knicks played the Toronto Raptors and after being down 14 points made a miraculous comeback with Lin hitting a game winning 3. Lin stating after the game "I just wanted to make sure I got a good shot at the end of the clock," and indeed he did sinking it with .5 seconds left. He left the Raptors stunned and continuing the Knicks win streak. His teammates and the Lin Fan club is increasing by day!

This is important because of how sudden Lin’s success is. He is not an All American Star and he is not is 1st round draft pick. This demonstrates an issue for big stars who are losing glamour and spotlight to the all of a sudden “ STAR” Lin. This is an interesting development because many people can debate on whether his success will continue. Lin is a great player and will lead the Knicks to a playoff birth. His ability to drive and find open teammates really make him a threat with Carmelo and Stoudamire back!!

In the article “An Odd Game a Grandmother Can Appreciate” she watches lins games on the TV, and gets very excited to watch him score for the team. She very mad where the opposing team hurts or roughs him up. She raised him from a little kid while his parents were working. Also his rest of the family desperately tries to watch the game during work.
The article is important because it shows how family stays with you at all times and takes care of you when it is needed. Lin has been caring the team to each and every game. It was very interesting to see how his family watched or was up to date with his games. It seems like his family has a good relationship and likes to be with each other.

Blaze at Prison Kills Hundreds in Honduras
By JAVIER C. HERNANDEZ and RANDAL C. ARCHIBOLD
    Published: February 15, 2012

A prison fire in latin America that had been started because a inmate had lit fire to his mattress, that had turned out to be one of the worst fires seen in several years. It had a death toll of 300 inmates being killed. Cell mates were choking to death while waiting for the guards with keys to come help them escape, but were no where to be found in the prison. The Inmates that did escape had to break through the ceiling and once broken through had kept running and are considered to be Fugitives. Survivors had recounted the horrific scenes of cellmates being trapped, for over 40 minutes until the first rescue team had showed up at 11:30p.m.
Its important because it shows that people had been killed when they could have been saved if the guards had done they’re job correctly. It demonstrates that there is an issue of un-fairness because cellmates that had ran because they were not let free from the fire had ran to stay from being put back in that prison are considered to be fugitives. The cell mates that had fleed once being free shouldn’t be considered fugitives because they ran, But to escape being put in a place like the prison they were in, where the inmates are neglected and left to burn in a fire.

  8. Interracial marriage in US hits new high: 1 in 12
    Published: February 16, 2012 5:31 AM
    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

In this article it talked about how interracial marriage is at a new high."The rise in interracial marriage indicates that race relations have improved over the past quarter century," said Daniel Lichter. Mixed race children are more frequent now among Americas color line. 8.4 percent of marriages are interracial in the U.S which has gone up a tremendous amount in the last 30 years. Public acceptance with interracial marriage has also show great improvement.

This article is important because it's not something we really think about. 50 years ago interracial marriage was frowned upon, its amazing how far our society has come. This article was interesting because it showed that over a short amount of time things can change if people are just a little open minded. With more acceptance the world has a chance to experience new things. The issue of racism hasn't been completely solved but not everyone is going to accept it. Our society is constantly changing with whats right and wrong. Interracial marriages will probably be close to 40% within the next 30-40 years.

  10. Jared Bernstein. "Why It's Time to Start Pushing for a Minimum Wage Hike."Rolling Stone[California]February 7th

Minimum wage is frequently a conflict in the United States. The economy is not the best the country has ever seen lately. "When someone proposes an increase, you hear a huge outcry from folks in groups like the Chamber of Commerce and from lobbyists for the big retailers". If the minimum wage is raised some people think that the amount of jobs available will decrease. This is due to the people hiring not wanting as many employees because of the price they must pay them.

Minimum wage has a large impact on everyone living in the United States. It causes conflict mainly between the middle and lower class, and the employers. Minimum wage should be raised because of all the raising prices of many common needs of the typical American.

Nicaragua is the world’s largest sugar cane plantation that produces 50 percent of the world’s sugar. The same plantation is surprisingly linked to the deaths of 1,047 people in 2010. This number has more then double since 2000 where the death total was 466. The mysterious illness is thought to be Chronic Kidney Dieses by many doctors. Those same doctors believe that the cause of illness is the grueling nature of the work, hours after hours without water, workers pushing their bodies through repeated extreme dehydration and heat stress. In Nicaragua there is so much need for work that the workers know the risk of working in a sugar cane plantation but this is the only thing they know how to do.
This is important because people need to be aware of this illness that can be in other places other then Nicaragua. The mysterious illness demonstrates an issue because we don’t know what’s causing it and we don’t know where it’s spreading. This article shows interest because it relates to the swine flue in 2009. This is important because people need to be educated and informed on what’s going on in Central America.

This passage states that in order to be happy and healthy we must take care of ourselves first. Not getting enough sleep, eating poorly, and not getting a decent amount of exercise are common attributes to maintaining your unhappiness. “With all the demands on us these days, it's easy to put ourselves on the backburner” says Carolyn Anderson. Were our biggest critic, when were behind on a task we talk negatively to ourselves which only makes things worse. If people managed to take care of themselves more than what they’re doing now, they would be happier.

This article is very important because if your not happy with yourself, then how are you supposed to be happy at all? Getting enough sleep, eating well, and doing a decent amount of exercise is healthy and good for you. Your body will only thank you once you start fixing them. The issue is that majorities of people either eat whatever they want, don’t exercise, and get no sleep. Especially teenagers. Which will affect them later on in life. This article was interesting because most people would look at the problem and not fix it thinking they’re fine.

Recent new studies are showing that people that live in areas of high levels of pollution are more likely to have a heart attack, stroke, or cognitive deterioration. A nationwide study closely examined over 20,000 women for about 10 years; they discovered that the pollution greatly increased the decline of measures of memory and their attention span. Studies have also shown that in Boston on days of high traffic the pollutants increased, and so did the risk of having a stroke. Gregory A. Wellenius, a professor of epidemiology claims, “At levels that the Environmental Protection Agency says are safe, we’re seeing real health effects.” There are more studies currently being done to figure out the exact cause-and-effect relationship between health and pollution.

This article is very important because it concerns the general health of the people of the world. If the pollution rates continue to increase, then so will the rates of heart attacks, strokes, memory loss, and attention spans. The levels of pollution that the Environmental Protection Agency say are “safe” are actually really affecting people in various, sometimes critical ways. It’s insane to think that people are getting sick simply by breathing air, which just shows how bad the earth is really getting and that pollution is a major cause toward it. If the rates of the pollution are not controlled, then large cities like Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, & Boston could all have serious health issues in the near future.

Susan Powell vanished on December 6, 2009; she is a mother of two boys Charlie 7 and Braden 5. They were very suspicious of Josh Powell (the husband) because they had previous marriage problems and because her body is still missing. Josh Powell killed himself and his two boys on February 5, 2012 in a suspicious fire in Graham, Washington. Questions remain unanswered as to why there were unsupervised custody visits. “The fact that they kept saying they were going to arrest him suggests they had enough evidence.” – Anne Bremner

This is important because Susan’s body is still missing and there is a very slight chance of her being alive and what Josh Powell did is wrong in so many ways. It demonstrates an issue because the way those two innocent boys died shouldn’t have happened since the father was or should’ve been a suspect. This is an interesting development because it makes many more people cautious and wanted answers. This article is interesting because it caused many problems for the law and put many people in guilt such as the 911 operator asking irrelevant questions taking longer than he should have and resulting in a house going up in flames and the death of Josh Powell and his two boys. This article was very true and was understandable to why the father wasn’t arrested. -Erin Moloney

“But while many people still like to use full-sized keyboards and screens at work, Day says office desktops will soon need to have “seamless sync ability” with all the apps and documents stored on Smart-phones and tablets. “People want mobility, simplicity and convenience,” he says.” Technology is a huge part of our lives, we use it everyday. Everyone is also on the go all the time and we want to still be able to use our technology, so the want more mobility. To achieve this companies are thinking about combining features of the laptop with the tablets and smart-phones.
This is important because it could save some costs of tech support of the desktops. This demonstrates an issue because we are no longer using desktops and because this is the time where our technology transforms. The article was interesting because this is talking about what kinds of technology is being created, what is the big new thing? This article shows that to those who like the keyboard and prefer the laptop over a tablet may soon loose those features due to the upgrades. The article talks about how to make a laptop, tablet, and phone all in one device.

After Whitney Houston's death some of the family members blamed Bobby Brown,Whitney Houston's husband, for the death of Whitney. Whitney Houston's funeral is on Saturday February 18th and a lot of Whitney's family was apprehensive about inviting Bobby to the funeral. At the last moment though the family felt that it would keep peace at the funeral and would be best for everybody. Bobby was also apprehensive about going to the funeral but in a last change of hear he agreed to go. Bobby then goes on to say how he will be performing after the funeral in honor of Whitney.

Alot of people say Bobby was the main reason for Whitney's death and that it was his fault. This presents an issue to a lot of people for allowing him to go the funeral. The article presented a lot of thoughts towards the subject if it is appropriate to allow someone who is said to be the reason for Whitney Houston's death to be able to go to a funeral that he caused.

  17. Obese Children Outgrowing Kids’ Clothing and Furniture

Recently, obese students cannot fit into regular size desks and it may seem a little ridiculous but companies have been making desks bigger to accompany the students. Children also have problems with the clothing that most companies sell, they don’t like that their size clothing is sheet-like or boring. Taylor LeBaron was one of those students who did not fit in a regular size desk. He said, “It was really embarrassing. When class is over, everyone gets up, I would take a few minutes extra, tactfully maneuvering out without looking like a fool.” According to the article, the bigger seats for overweight students have been selling more than the standard sizes.

This article is important because this generation has been increasing in size and it is really unhealthy. The growth charts have been exceeded in the United States since 1977, which is very abnormal. The problem with kids these days is that they go to school for 7 hours a day then go home and do maybe up to 3 hours of homework. Children also have access to video games and they choose to play those instead of playing outside. Sure, companies are making money off of selling bigger desks and larger clothing but it’s not right. These companies are making obesity seem normal by accompanying to the children; if the companies stuck to standard sized desks it could help to convince children to fit into desks by losing weight. Gym classes have been cut down, and do not require much physical activity. Obesity is a large problem that needs to be solved.

Catcher, Gary Carter, of the New York Mets, died Thursday in Florida after battling brain cancer. Carter was an 11-time All-Star and two-time All-Star Game MVP, batted 262 with 324 home runs and 1,255 runs in his career that began in 1974. He retired in 1993, 10 years before he was elected to the Hall of Fame. He was said to have become "one of the elite catchers of all time."

This article is important because nobody enjoyed playing the game of baseball more than Gary Carter. "He wore his heart on his sleeve every inning he played and he gave you 110% and played the most grueling position on the field." Gary Carter did everything with enthusiasm, on and off the field. He led his team to the World Series title in 1986 and he devoted an equal amount of time and energy and raising awareness for the many charities he supported.

If they can make sure it’s the actual celebrity. It could enable the celebrity to have more options with Facebook like changing its nickname or have more statuses and it makes it easier for their fans to find them. This is important to the fans because they want to actually follow the actual celebrity not a random person behind a computer. This article demonstrates the issue of many people impersonating celebrities to get followers. I think this is great what they’re doing because it will be great for the fans who want to follow their daily lives. It shows the issue that it is getting easier to get weapons and that they are not afraid to use them anymore. This is interesting because many people were told crime rate was at an all time low, but really it has not gotten any better. I believe that there are to many dirty salesman and that people will do anything to make money. People need a background check in order to by a handgun and it is way to easy to get one. The prisoners whose scorched bodies were carried out piece by piece Thursday morning from a charred Honduran prison had been locked inside an overcrowded penitentiary where most inmates had never been charged, let alone convicted, according to an internal Honduran government report obtained by the Associated Press. The Honduran government report, which was sent to the United Nations this month, said 57% of some 800 inmates of the Comayagua farm prison north of the Central American country's capital were either awaiting trial or being held as suspected gang members. A fire that witnesses said was started by an inmate tore through the prison Tuesday night, burning and suffocating screaming men in their locked cells as rescuers desperately searched for keys. Officials confirmed 358 dead, making it the world's deadliest prison fire in a century.
Honduran authorities said they are still investigating other possible causes based on prisoner accounts, including that the fire could have been set in collusion with guards to stage a prison break. And I'm sure most people will agree with me that this is a horrible tragedy whether these people were criminals or not.

Iran is currently developing a nuclear program. Iran officials say that it is for the use of energy instead of dipping into the oil supply. But in November 2011 United Nations said that there is a “credible” case on Iran and that there is a lot of evidence showing that they are development in a nuclear device. Iran economy was suffering and looked like they had no other way then to use nuclear instead of cutting into the oil trade, which would upset United States and European countries.

When the cameras came out so would Gary’s smile. Gary was with the Mets when they were in the World Series in 1980. Up Close carter was not as outgoing. He was a gentleman and kind man. There was a sadness side to him because when he was 12 his mom had died of leukemia. Gary thought his mom was just going to the hospital for tests. But then during a baseball game Gary had got the bad news that his mom had died.
This article is interesting because when my parents got married it was on the same day that the Mets had won the World Series and there favorite player was Gary Carter. It is sad to here one of the great players to pass away. At least he will be remembered as one of the great and the one that always had a smile on his face in good and bad situations.

  25. Georgia restaurant says "no crying children". The restaurant is banning children who are crying because many diners at the restaurant have complained about them."To ensure that all diners have an enjoyable lunch or dinner with us we respectfully ask that parents tend to their crying tots outside.” The restaurant owner says that he wants to make it clear that he likes kids, however.
This is important because it could be possible that more restaurants will take up this policy. This is an issue because there are many little children that cry in restaurants. this is an important development because more restaurants may copy that restaurant.

"Evil may walk among us, but that doesn't mean evil never wrote a love letter," said John Kirkland. Summarize this article the four most unlikely dictators, Stalin, Mussolini, Bonaparte and Hitler. Each of these dictators wrote love letters to they wives or lovers. All of the relationship end with a very bad note for the lover they either ended with her dying of in an institutionalized.
Stalin wife, Nadya had ended up shot after one their “epic” fights, some believe it was him who shot her. Mussolini Sent Ida, his wife, and their son to an institutionalized were she died, but before hand had called her “My little Ida” and would write to her on trains. As for Napoleon was he was obsessed with Josephine he could never keep control of her like the other Dictators, the only thing he did was change her name from Rose, She end up leafing and dying of a cold.
A new view of the world’s dictators of the past, shows that they did not hold the same views toward they personally life’s, except Hitler. It is not a good idea to make a relationship with a dictator. The important of this article is to understand and to learn about history.

The article I did was about Robert Pattinson and how his movies are currently premiering in Germany. I was interested in this article because I like Robert Pattinson as an actor and like the Twilight movies. He joined co-star christina Ricci at the Berlin film festival to discuss and see the premier of his movie "Bel Ami".

The film takes place in Paris during the 1890's. Pattinson plays the role of an adolescent that goes from rags to riches almost overnight. After reading this article I would like to see this film.

    http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/02/14/pet-owners-hearts-may-cope-better-with-change/

This week I chose to read the article Pet Owners’ hearts may cope better with change. This article is about a new study, which shows that pet owners with chronic diseases seem to be healthier than non-pet owners. Over 24 hours scientists at Kitasato University in Kanagawa, Japan monitored almost 200 people with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. The results showed that 5 % of pet owners heartbeats differed by 50 milliseconds in length from non-pet owners whose results were 2.5%, which means their heart rate changed less. The pets could cause the difference between the two groups somehow or it could just be the differences between the people who choose to get a pet and those who don’t.
I think that this article is important because this could be a new way to help improve people with chronic diseases. This isn’t a cure, but it can benefit both people and animals. After more people hear about this new study maybe they will go out and adopt a new friend. People will have the benefit of become healthier and having a new companion.

Health is a basic promise for a person to maintain their normal life activity. It is important for people to notice the importance and start to take care about their healthy problems.People should realize their healthy conditions while enjoying food. Because some high calories food may harm your health invisibly and you even don’t notice. That man’s misfortune was treated by tourists as a joke because he got sickness by a burger. But this event should work as a warning for people to control their food balance and take care of their health.

A federal immigration agent shot and wounded a colleague at their office, before the gunman was killed by a third agent. "Another agent, working nearby, intervened and fired his weapon to prevent additional rounds being fired at the victim," said Steve Martinez. The gunman died on scene while one of the men who was shot was hospitalized in stable condition. The shooting happened on the seventh floor of the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building in downtown Long Beach. James Murray said the victim's vital signs were "good for now," and that he had ongoing bleeding but that it wasn't a cause for concern.
This is important because it deals with a federal building shooting. This demonstrates an issue of people in the world who would kill others. The article was interesting because people's lives were in danger.

  35. Associated Press. "NJ trooper's triplets in bus crash: 1 dead, 2 hurt". Newsday. February 17, 2012. February 17, 2012. .
Chesterfield, N.J. - A dump truck collided with a bus carrying elementary schoolchildren on Thursday, killing an 11 year old daughter of a state trooper and critically injuring three other student. Two of them the triplet sisters of the dead girl, authorities said. The accident occured at a 4 way intersection just after 8 a.m. The bus hit a traffic signal pole. There were 25 people on the bus 17 received injuries. Chesterfield police Chief Kyle Wilson said the bus had a stop sign while the dump truck had a flashing yellow light. He said it was unclear whether the bus was attempting to cross the intersection or turn when the collision happened. One of the boys on the bus said "this big truck just came and slammed right into us".
This is important because many people's lives were in danger. This demonstrates the issue of dangerous drivers on the road. This was interesting because it is something i can relate to and creates cautiousness for me while i am in the car. Both of the drivers could have made better decisions to prevent this accident from occuring.

A man who is believed to live in the woods of Utah has beed eluding authorities for over five years. He roams in the woods of southern Utah breaking into cabins and eating hot food drinking alcohol and coffe before stealing provisions and disappearing. Police have gotten his finger prints but they dont match anything in data bases. Hes responsible for more that 24 robberies and his most recent have been very violent. In his most recent ones he has left the cabins rittled with bullets. He also defaces religious material and leaves notes. His most recent note says "Get of my mountain". There ara many ideas as to who it is the most common one is that its a 42 year old man on there most wanted list from 2004 for the killing of an armored-truck guard in Phoenix. There are a few more theories but no one will know until he is cought, charged, and tried.

In Hanover, PA, a local music studio has opened up a rehab center within their studio to rehabilitate locals that are addicted to drugs, alcohol, etc. The facility allows people to recover by telling their stories through musical composition. “How they interpret a song – the therapist is able to see things that they might not be able to talk about,” says Justin Daniels. He started this program because his brother in law died of a drug overdose in 1995. Because the clinic has been successful, it has been able to launch their own record label, Iron Ridge Recordings.

This is important because some people aren’t able to express certain feelings to people they don’t know unless its through song. Even though some people might have never picked up an instrument before, they are taught how to play the instrument. This program is rarely found in rehab programs so this helps people cope with their addiction through something they love.
